The Lacquered Wessex Duplex EP105P Bombardino is one of the most unique instruments ever developed by Wessex. Its main feature is the exclusive dual bell system, which allows for an instant change in the instrument's sound character through a fifth piston.

By activating the fifth piston, the airflow is redirected between two completely different bells: a large bombardino bell, with a wide, round, traditional sound, and a smaller bell with a more direct, focused timbre closer to a baritone or trombone.

Dual Sound Personality in One Instrument

The 12” (300 mm) main bell offers the classic sound of a compensated bombardino: warm, deep, and with great harmonic richness. When activating the auxiliary 8½” (216 mm) bell, the instrument takes on a brighter and more defined character, ideal for solo lines, rhythmic passages, or contexts where greater clarity and frontal projection are desired.
