Wessex BBb Jazz Tuba TB162s silver

A compact silver-plated jazz tuba with forward projection

The Wessex TB162S Silver-Plated BBb Jazz Tuba develops the Mighty Midget concept by adding a larger forward-facing bell for stronger and more direct projection. It is designed for musicians who need a compact and easy-to-carry tuba without losing the tonal presence required for jazz, bands and street performances.

With a height of 69 cm and an approximate weight of 5.8 kg, the TB162S is significantly easier to transport than a conventional full-size tuba. Its compact dimensions also reduce fatigue during long performances and make it practical for musicians who travel regularly.

The 285 mm forward-facing bell directs the sound towards the audience, creating clear and immediate projection. This is particularly useful outdoors, on smaller stages and in ensembles where the tuba must retain its presence without using a much larger instrument.

As the silver-plated version, the TB162S offers a more focused response, clearer articulation and strong tonal definition. Its 15 mm internal leadpipe supports an efficient response and helps the instrument produce an impressive amount of sound for its size.

Practical details include the duck-leg bell support, harness and carrying-strap hooks, and a lock for the main tuning slide. The tuba is supplied with a rectangular wheeled case and mouthpiece, while the compatible B162 gig bag is available separately.

The harness hooks, duck-leg support and low weight make standing performance easier, while the wheeled case simplifies everyday transport.
