Wessex BBb tuba Conqueror TB950 XP lacquered

A professional compensated BBb tuba designed to go beyond the brass band

The Wessex Conqueror TB950 Lacquered BBb Tuba builds upon the finest traditional British compensated BBb basses while introducing significant ergonomic and acoustic improvements. The result is a professional instrument that is more comfortable to play, more responsive and suitable for a much wider range of musical settings than the traditional brass band alone.

Each TB950 is individually handmade in Wessex's premium workshop using German Brass, producing a warm, resonant and full-bodied tone while maintaining a relatively lightweight construction. The lacquered finish enhances the natural warmth and flexibility of the sound, making it ideal for players seeking a rich and expressive character.

The 480 mm bell features a large bell throat, allowing the instrument to produce a broad contrabass sound with excellent projection. Its graduated bore, ranging from 18.5 mm to 20 mm, provides an open response and effortless airflow throughout the full register.

Player comfort has been carefully considered. The leadpipe sits at a natural height for most musicians, while the fourth valve has been positioned closer to the hand to reduce unnecessary stretch. In addition, the redesigned fourth-valve loop delivers a noticeably more open and free-blowing low register than many traditional compensated BBb tubas.

Standing 910 mm tall and weighing approximately 11 kg, the Conqueror combines professional performance with practical handling. It is supplied with a durable ABS case fitted with wheels for convenient transportation.
