Wessex BBb tuba Conqueror TB950XP-S silver-plated

A handcrafted large-format BBb tuba

The Wessex Conqueror TB950XP-S BBb Tuba is designed for tuba players looking for a large instrument with an open low register and professional-level construction. This silver-plated version combines substantial dimensions with a number of practical improvements designed to provide comfortable playing and a solid response throughout the register.

One of its key features is the compensating system. This configuration supports confident playing in the low register and makes the Conqueror particularly suitable for repertoire where depth, stability and a strong bass foundation are required.

The TB950XP-S is handcrafted from German Brass, an important distinguishing feature of this version of the Conqueror. Its 480 mm bell is combined with an overall height of 910 mm and an approximate weight of 11 kg.

The bore increases progressively from 18.5 to 20 mm. Together with the overall design of the instrument, this configuration creates a more open low register, allowing the air to move more freely when playing in the lower range of the tuba.

Ergonomics have also been considered in its design. The fourth piston is positioned closer to the player to provide a more comfortable hand position. The instrument is finished in silver plate and supplied with a wheeled ABS case for easier protection and transportation.

Benefits of the Wessex Conqueror TB950XP-S Silver-Plated Tuba

The combination of German Brass, a 480 mm bell and the design provides a substantial bass foundation and a low register designed to remain open when greater airflow is required.

The more open low register is one of the most important characteristics of this model. Its progressive bore reaches 20 mm, helping the lower range maintain a natural airflow and giving the player greater freedom when working at the bottom of the instrument's register.

The closer fourth piston position also provides a practical ergonomic improvement. By bringing it nearer to the hand, the design aims to provide a more natural and comfortable position during long rehearsals and performances.
