Wessex F tuba TF636HP-GB Strauss

The Wessex British TF458 F Tuba is a modern recreation of the iconic original British model, the type of instrument for which Vaughan Williams wrote his tuba concerto and much of the English orchestral repertoire before the 1970s. Its lyrical, warm and highly distinctive tone recalls the sound character of a euphonium while maintaining a surprisingly solid low register that allows performers to approach classic British repertoire with confidence.

The TF458HP model is constructed from hand-hammered German brass sheet, providing lively resonance and agile response. The instrument faithfully preserves the proportions and aesthetics of historical British tubas, including valve caps and buttons reproduced from original period designs, as well as an ornate engraving on the bell that reinforces its traditional appearance.

The combination of a compact 13-inch bell and lightweight construction of only 6.35 kg allows precise tonal control and highly flexible articulation, qualities especially appreciated in solo repertoire and chamber music performance.

The included mouthpiece is a modern interpretation of the original British design, while the receiver remains fully compatible with modern mouthpieces, allowing easy adaptation to contemporary technical demands.
