Wessex F Tuba TF458 British

The Wessex F Tuba TF626HP-GB Strauss is a modern recreation of the iconic British F tuba style used throughout much of the classic English orchestral repertoire before the 1970s. This is the type of instrument for which Vaughan Williams composed his famous tuba concerto, known for its lyrical, warm and highly characteristic tonal color.

Its euphonium-like sound character blends naturally with a surprisingly strong and stable low register, allowing performers to approach traditional British orchestral works with authenticity and confidence.

Constructed from hand-hammered German brass, the instrument provides lively resonance and agile response while preserving the proportions and aesthetics of historical British tubas. Details such as the historically inspired valve caps, buttons and ornate bell engraving reinforce its traditional appearance.

The compact 13-inch bell combined with its lightweight construction of only 6.35 kg allows precise tonal control and highly flexible articulation. These characteristics are especially appreciated in solo performance and chamber music settings.

The included mouthpiece is a modern interpretation of the original British design, while the receiver remains compatible with contemporary mouthpieces for easier adaptation to modern playing requirements.
