Wessex Eb helicon HE29s silver

A silver-plated Eb helicon with focused response and strong projection

The Wessex HE29S Silver-Plated Eb Helicon combines the traditional circular shape of the helicon with practical features designed for today's brass musician. Its wraparound construction distributes the weight close to the player's body and creates a lower centre of gravity, providing a stable and comfortable playing position during long performances.

This design is particularly suitable for musicians who need to move while playing, including jazz performers, marching band players and members of traditional outdoor ensembles. Although its shape differs from a conventional tuba, its playing principles remain familiar, making it an accessible option for experienced tuba players.

The silver-plated finish is not simply a visual feature. It contributes to a focused response, clear articulation and strong tonal definition, helping the instrument project effectively in outdoor settings and maintain its presence within a large ensemble.

Its generous 17.75 mm bore and detachable 480 mm bell produce a broad and stable sound with excellent carrying power. Four stainless steel piston valves extend the instrument's range, while the adjustable first valve slide allows tuning corrections during performance. The fourth valve position has also been designed for comfortable operation by both right- and left-handed players.

For convenient transportation, the bell can be removed and the instrument fits into a custom moulded ABS hard case with wheels. A Wessex Mount Vernon 24AW mouthpiece is supplied as standard.

Benefits of the Wessex HE29S Silver-Plated Eb Helicon

The silver-plated finish supports a precise response and clearly defined articulation, allowing the HE29S to retain excellent projection during outdoor performances and while the player is moving.

Its circular construction distributes the weight evenly around the body, offering greater stability and comfort than many large-format marching instruments. This makes it particularly suitable for extended standing performances.

Four piston valves, an adjustable first valve slide and vented valves provide the flexibility, tuning control and smooth mechanical response required for a wide variety of musical settings.
